Event description:

Rutland’s webinar on the subject of the Draft Building Safety Bill was held in March 2021, and was attended by a wide range of participants from across the industry.

During the webinar, we discussed the Draft Building Safety Bill and its implications for the door industry. Our experienced panellists contributed significantly by speaking about the various aspects that the bill covers, talking about how the Bill affects each part of the supply chain. A running theme was ‘The Golden Thread’ of accountability – take a look at our blog post to learn more.

As with such an in-depth topic, there were plenty of follow-up questions from participants, many of which our panellists answered live, and the remaining questions were answered in this subsequent video.

Rutland has also produced a whitepaper on the topic of the Draft Building Safety Bill, which discusses the various ‘Gateways’ that are passed through at each stage of a project, and who holds the responsibility at each stage.

Proceedings:

  1. Overview of Draft Building Safety Bill – Lucy Witts
  2. The Golden Thread – Neil Smith
  3. How the Bill affects door manufacturers and hardware companies – Neil Harrison
  4. Importance of correct installation and maintenance of fire doors – Richard Kowalski
  5. Q&A session
